Worship at St. John's during the Coronavirus Outbreak

Update - Tuesday 10th November 2020

Following a standing committee meeting it has been decided to cancel private prayer on Wednesdays unstil further notice due to an increase in Covid-19 cases locally. A further update will be provided when this decision is to be reversed.

Update - Sunday 14th June 2020

The Government have said we are allowed to open churches for private prayer from Monday 15th June. Peter and Frankie propose to open St Michael’s on Wednesdays from 10 – 11 am, and 6 – 7 pm on Thursdays, and St John’s from 11 – 12 noon on Wednesdays.

Do drop in to light a candle and say a prayer during those times. You will need to bring your own mask, sanitise your hands as you enter, and observe 2 metres from others. Numbers will be limited in case we’re inundated! Peter and Frankie will be delighted to see you.

Frankie and Peter are beginning to think about the day when, eventually, the Government and Diocese allows us to re-open our churches for worship on Sundays. As we resume at St John’s and St Michael’s, it will be important to continue to livestream from St Michael’s at 9.30 to include those who remain at home and the many others that join us on line. In order for this to be possible, St John’s PCC has agreed to move the Sunday service from 10 to 11 am, so, together, Peter and Frankie can cover both services. This decision will be reviewed when normality resumes.

Update - Tuesday 24th March 2020

Following the latest guidance we will no longer be opening St Michael's & St John's churches for private prayer until further notice.

In addition, following the statement from the Prime Minister on Monday 23rd March, we will also be unable to provide livestreams of services. Both St. Michael's and St. John's are considering other ways to pray and worship in our homes. Please note:- the livestream on Sunday was interuppted but soon resumed and had not finished early. For future livestreams, if the video stops, please refresh your browser or press play on the video again as the issue may be temporary.

Both parishes will be putting in place networks for pastoral contact, if you, or anyone you know who may be in need of this, please contact Frances or Peter on 01900 607323.

On Tuesday 17th March 2020, The Archbishop's of Canterbury and York announced suspension of public worship.
